Soaring Alison Blue after 16 years

I guess I have to do my blog post every 2 years? Well I attempted to open my blog months ago with a thought that this is non-existent already.

I love to open this blog as this depicts my story. This is already 16 years old. This masterpiece started with the era of friendster, mp3s, multiply.com and tumblr.com. The new generation right now might not relate to this but I am hoping that blogger.com will remain in order to share this to my children. (If God permits to do so). I was Alison Blue before who had lots of textmates using my keypad phone. Now, I am Franz Lawas who is now a licensed physician plus an internist (Adult Medicine Specialist). I just graduated on my residency training program from a government hospital last year. Gladly, I passed the Phillippine Society Board of Internal Medicine Examination last March 2024 and a newly inducted Diplomate in Internal Medicine by Philippine College of Physicians. Yes, a high school student from Minglanilla National Science High School made it this far.

I was also given a chance to present my residency research paper at Seoul, South Korea last June 13-16 entitled Assessment in the Quality of Life of Hemodialysis Patients in a Government Renal Center during ongoing COVID19 Pandemic last 2023. It was such a dream come true. I was fanatic to Kdramas since then and fate brought me to South Korea.

Yes, I hope those who are still following my blog (If there is any) will be happy. I am aiming for more blessings to come. I pray that blogger.com will stay alive. For sure my future self will come to realize: Wait, I have to post a blog.

Merry at Cafe Berry

Oh, hello. Finally I have a spare time blogging. Third bimonthly period just commenced and I have nothing to study so far. Horray!
Let me introduce to you a place. A  cozy place to chill and definitely for good vibes.
This is Cafe Berry. ❤

This started around midseptember last 2017 when I was searching for a place to study. I was really desperate that time for the fear of sleeping at home. That was on a sunday and I weren't yet halfway on my readings for the next day's exam because of organization and adulting stuff. Then I discovered this place. This is located outside the seaview wing at SM Seaside City Cebu. Yes, outside. From the mall, you need to pass through the exit near Bon Chon Chicken. This coffee shop is facing the SRP road rather.

The place... oh so awesome and classy with the wooden tables, large bookshelf, comfy chairs and wow, the gold painted pipe. I also love the view of the bay in SRP.  It is also spacious so it's not that obvious if it gets crowded. For me, this is the best place to study rather cram the day before exam. This opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 12:00 AM everyday.
There are variety of drinks and desserts to choose from. My favorites are Green Tea Latte and Cafe Mocha for coffee based drinks. For desserts, oreo snow and mango snow are great and tasty.

Ang Gihigugmang Sugbo part 1 : Basilica del Santo Niño

If you want to know more about me, then get to know my birthplace first. Let this blog introduce to you my beloved land-- The Queen City of the South: Cebu with the series entitled "Ang Gihigugmang Sugbo" (The beloved Cebu)

There is one place which depicts the story of Cebu and the Christianity of Filipinos --Basilica Del Sto. Niño. If you want to visit Cebu, I suggest that this Basilica should be your first stop.

A Brief History of Cebu

Prior to the arrival of the Spaniards, Cebu was known as Sugbo which was a native kingdom. It was founded by Sri Lumay (also known as Raja Lumaya), a native prince which invaded Sumatra in Indonesia. Changes occured when Spaniards came which was led by Ferdinand Magellan (1521). He was welcomed by Rajah Humabon and 700 islanders where baptized into Christians with a Christian cross planted (Magellan's cross) and an image of child Jesus (Sto. Niño) which was handed to Queen Juana, Rajah Humabon's wife. However, Magellan was killed by Lapu-lapu.

Magellan's cross-- It is currently housed in a chapel next to Basilica
del Sto. Niño.

About the Basilica

Basilica del Sto Niño was founded by Andres de Urdaneta, an Augustinian priest on April 28, 1565, the very day the Legazpi- Urdaneta expedition arrived.

This church has always been the place for novenas and mass for Sto. Niño devotees. People still queue to kiss the image of the holy child.
